The Great Britannia Photo Competition 2010

Show Us What You've Got!

We know you've got them because we've seen you taking them. Somewhere in that collection you've got a special image of Britannia Heritage Shipyard, its fleet or its people. Here's your chance to earn bragging rights and valuable prizes.

Britannia Heritage Shipyard Society wants to see through your eyes. Whether it's a misty morning panorama shot across the floats or a dramatic macro of a rusty ring bolt we want to see you images. And we want to show them to the world. You printed pictures will be placed on prominent display at the Richmond Maritime Festival, at the Britannia Shipyard in August 2010.

Not only will you get the pleasure of having you special pictures on public display for all your friends and family to see, you'll have a shot at some great prizes. Steveston merchants have generously donated merchandise and gifts to the Society for this purpose and there'll be cash prizes as well.

Who can enter? This contest is open to anyone. All you need is a camera, a way to print and mount your picture for display and you can join in.

But we suggest you don't dawdle. Entries will be accepted until August 6th. After that you'll have to wait until next year. Our esteemed panel of expert judges will meticulously inspect the entries in each of three categories: People, Buildings & Boats and General. Then they will pool their opinions to select the winners. Prizes will be awarded during the festival.

We Want To See Your Pictures!

All images will be placed on display for the duration of the Richmond Maritime Festival which runs from Friday, August 21st, 2010 through Sunday the 22nd. You may even advertise your pictures for sale if you wish. Of course, we would like the opportunity to use your pictures at some future time so we ask that you give us that privilege.You will be able to pick up your printed images at the Murakami Residence following the close of the the festival.

So get busy. Go through that collection or get out to Britannia and make new pictures. Join us in showcasing the special beauty of this remarkable bit of Richmond's History.
